Stone Mountain Community and Business Relations |
|
Community Support: Stone
Mountain has received enormous support for its project
from not only the local community, but from local,
county and state leaders and agencies. We are
honored by the outpouring of support for our project and
have made several conscious decisions in how we repay
that support, with support of our own for the community.
Here are a few of those ways that Stone Mountain is
striving to be a responsible corporate citizen in our
community. |
|
Community Partnership:
Stone Mountain made a conscious decision to not seek
local and State incentives from the government.
Stone Mountain was entitled to considerable tax and
other incentives to entice it to start the project in
the local community, as many of our competitors have
done in other rural areas.
Although this amounts to
refusing millions of dollars for the company, it takes
it away from the local community. This money is needed
by the local, county and state governments to build
roads and schools and infrastructure to support the
complex and the community. Stone Mountain decided
that the best use of these funds was by the local
community and therefore, declined these incentives for
itself, yet preserves them for potential clients and
tenants used to attract new companies to the Mountain.

Local Business Support:
Stone Mountain has a standing policy to use local
businesses and contractors whenever and wherever
possible. We support the use of local businesses
as a priority in all transactions as long as they can
meet the specifications and/or price constraints.
In any transaction in which the local business can meet
the criteria and pricing of larger out-of-area
suppliers, local businesses will be given priority.
Stone Mountains commitment is to
be a good neighbor and support local business.
Stone Mountain is also developing a Micro-Lender
Program and a Technology Incubator Program
for local businesses and residents to assist them in
starting and expanding their capabilities to support the
complex.

Community Outreach: Stone
Mountain, as a member of the local community, has seen
first-hand the plight of some of the local and regional
residents in Appalachia. The owners of Stone Mountain
have decided to create a community assistance fund in
which 10% of their ownership of the complex, and the
profits there from, are gifted to
a community outreach program to raise the standard of
living of the local residents who are in need.
This will be accomplished
through scholarships, job training and placement
programs, monetary assistance for necessities, food,
clothing and housing through grants and low or zero
interest loans for transportation and home improvements.
Stone Mountain will also become directly involved in
other such community outreach programs in the local
community that provide for assistance of the poor and/or
victims of hardship or disasters.
All Stone Mountain employees,
clients, tenants and vendors
are encouraged to get involved and to donate their time
and manpower in helping those less fortunate and to work with local and state agencies in
assisting local residents in need. Part of the
Stone Mountain complex is a planned full medical and dental
complex for Stone Mountain employees and tenants, which will be made
available to local disadvantaged families without any
other means of treatment at no charge.
For more information, or to
get involved, contact Stone Mountain. |
