Stone Mountain Advantages |
|
The vision of Stone Mountain is
to provide the largest, most secure, most reliable self
sufficient data center complex in the world. With the
primary focus on reliability and security, and the
secondary focus on reducing the carbon foot print of the
complex to the lowest possible level that does not
compromise the primary focus.
Stone Mountain has many
unique inherent features that make this possible where
other sites can not. These include:
Security Advantages
- The natural security of
40 foot thick solid stone walls
- The unique fact of
being subterranean while still being 300 feet above
the ground
- Multiple natural
security barriers such as river and cliffs that
surround the complex
- Multiple security rings
both inside and outside the mountain for additional
security protection
- Police Powers granted
by the State to onsite security force to allow the
carrying of automatic weapons and arrest powers
- Ground radar, biometric
access and other electronic security and
surveillance measures
- On site fire station,
sheriff station and EMS station with helipad
- In disaster free zone -
very low to no risk of any major natural disasters
such as tornado, hurricane, earthquake etc.
- No major terrorist
susceptible target facilities within 125 mile radius
Environmental Advantages
- Indefinite
self-sustainability for complete stand-alone
operability no matter what happens off site.
- The internal ambient
temperature of 52 degrees year-round naturally
reducing cooling costs and power consumption
- The extremely low cost
of power and abundant supply from green power plants
such as coal-gasification, hydro and natural gas
- Abundant naturally
chilled ground water via artesian wells for green
chiller effect
- Natural insulation of
solid stone walls reduces cooling loss
- Low carbon foot-print -
Applying for LEED Platinum rating
- Natural gas powered
backup generators to reduce carbon output
- LED lighting where
possible to reduce heat and lower non-critical power
usage
Connectivity Advantages
- The massive amounts of
abundant fiber installed reaching out to over 300
PoPs.
- Multi-homed, diverse
routed fiber connections for total reliability
- Satellite uplinks to
backup fiber connectivity.
- Multiple carriers with
direct connection to the mountain for carrier
neutral status
- Stone Mountain owns and
operates the Last Mile of fiber and the meet me
rooms with no cross connect fees charged
Power Advantages
- Low cost of power
(approximately 2 cents per KWH)
- Use of solar, wind and
other green alternative sources for non-critical
electric needs
- Multiple natural gas
pipe lines to the property as well as onsite natural
gas sources.
- Multiple water lines as
well as onsite artesian wells for water supply.
- 4 separate power
companies with over 20 individual power plants
available to feed the power needs of the complex as
it grows
Location Advantages
- The In the middle of
Everywhere location - 2/3 of the USA population
within an 8 hour drive or 2 hour flight of the
complex
- Multiple airports
within 45 minute drive of the complex in both KY and
WV
- Below
Market lease rates - low land and
construction costs in the area allow for low rates
- Large skilled labor
force within a 1 hour drive of the complex and large
(12,000 +) college within 20 minutes of the complex
- Massive Local, County &
State support and huge incentives for locating
businesses in this area
Other Advantages
- Property
Management by JP Morgan Specialty Assets division
for maintenance assurance to highest standards

Cost Advantages of
Stone Mountain |
|
Making a decision on a data center can be complex and
difficult. Hidden costs can be shocking to your
budget. Stone Mountain is committed to making that cost
analysis as simple and transparent as possible. Our
goal is to provide tenants with unbeatable value.
Please consider the following issues in your data center
selection process:
-
Without sparing the highest quality, Stone
Mountain's land and construction costs are
exceptionally low. These low costs enable Stone
Mountain to offer pricing well below prevailing
market rates.
-
Stone Mountain offers true gross leases, which
include not only space, but security, janitorial,
building property taxes, employee parking, shuttle
service, "meet-up" telephone and fiber connections,
and a generous electrical allowance
(negotiable). You won't get "nickled and dimed" at
Stone Mountain.
-
If tenants increase server density and need to use
more power per square foot than originally provided
in the lease's electricity allowance, electric
power will not only be available, but at an
extremely low cost (currently about $.02 / KWH.
Compare this rate to the prices you are
either already paying or would have to pay at
other data centers. You will be astounded by the
cost difference.
-
Should Stone Mountain tenants outgrow their initial
space needs, the Stone Mountain Complex has over 6
million square feet of outside and subterranean
space available for lease. Further expansion beyond
this already mega-size is virtually unlimited. You
will never have to pay high costs of moving your
data center operations to another location because
of lack of available space, power or fiber.
Advance space reservations for planned growth are
also available.
-
The State of Kentucky offers
businesses moving into the state significant
incentives such as tax abatements, training funds,
and other financial support. Please contact the

Recruiting staff in the area will be inexpensive and
the quantity of candidates at all skill levels will
be ample. A 12,000 person State University is within 30
minutes of the Stone Mountain site and there are a
dozen other Colleges and Universities within 60
miles of the complex. Because of the
low cost of living in the area, prevailing wages at
all levels is well below national averages.
There is a large labor pool of highly skilled IT
professionals in the general and surrounding areas.
-
Stone Mountain offers total design flexibility.
Because Stone Mountain is a new project, you will
be moving into space that will be custom built to
your needs and specifications. Virtually all wishes
related to such matters such as square
footage, density, raised flooring, false ceilings,
CRAC requirements, lighting and other variables will
be accommodated. Your company won't be burdened
by undue delays or extra costs to modify
space leased to a previous tenant with a different
configuration than you want.
-
Stone Mountain is committed to fair pricing of
special design requirements of tenants.
-
Stone Mountain is a certified CLEC and an authorized
representative of numerous fiber carriers. If
requested, Stone Mountain will assist tenants to
achieve favorable broadband and telephone services.
-
Stone Mountain is a carrier neutral facility and
offers cross connects to virtually all carriers with
no cross connect fees.
